Recognizing a need for great comfort food for stressed out travelers, in February 2011 she brought her talents as an executive chef to Miami International Airport with the opening of Lorena Garcia Cocina, a healthier take on traditional Latin cuisine. She opened her second traveler’s restaurant in August 2012 at the Atlanta International Airport.
Garcia’s third restaurant TAPAS Y COCINA by Lorena Garcia opened September 2016 in Dallas/Ft. Worth Airport. Reconnecting with a like-minded friend, John Kunkel, the duo decided to collaborate on a new project. Uniting their passions for the Miami culinary scene and authentic Latin cuisines, CHICA was born.
